Sun Pattern

A radiant sun fills the frame of Sun pattern, an Albert Herter design built from looping gold rays. Radiance spreads outward in concentric sweeps, each band edged with darker amber so the light seems to pulse from the center. The palette runs almost entirely in yellows: lemon at the core, ochre and mustard through the middle rays, warm bronze along the outermost tips. Flat color fields and clean contour lines give the motif the crisp geometry of a textile or stained-glass cartoon, the kind of decorative pattern Herter made his name on. Nothing is accidental here; every ray repeats with deliberate rhythm. A hallway or sunroom would wear it well, especially against pale plaster or warm wood paneling.
