Summer Sketch (Quiet Evening)

A still pond holds the last light of a summer evening, its surface mirroring a sky gone rose and amber at the horizon. This is Summer sketch (Quiet evening) by Arkady Rylov. The Russian landscape painter worked here in loose, open brushstrokes, warm ochre and soft violet laid down wet against wet so the colors bleed into one another. Reeds lean at the water edge, dark against the glow. Trees along the far bank stand as simple silhouettes, their forms dissolved into the warm haze. Nothing stirs. The air itself seems to slow. A quiet study corner or a bedroom reading nook suits this hush well, the kind of room where evenings wind down gently.
