Study for Iridescent Interpenetration

Shards of color pierce one another across the sheet, wedge after wedge of violet, ochre and pale green driving through lighter bands like light caught mid-motion. Giacomo Balla built this study for Iridescent Interpenetration from overlapping angular planes, each one shaded so the overlaps read as translucence. Ink lines sharpen every edge. Color runs in graded steps, rose to blue, blue to yellow, so no wedge sits flat. Some areas stay open, uncolored paper holding the structure together. The composition turns on itself, motion folded into geometry, the way Balla chased speed and luminosity in his Futurist work. It belongs in a modern study or a hallway with strong daylight, where the color shifts as you pass.
