Street Scene, France

A sunlit French street unfolds in quick, confident strokes. Samuel Peploe paints the moment: pale facades, shuttered windows, and long shadows breaking across the cobbles at noon. The palette leans on warm ochre and dusty rose, cut by slabs of ultramarine shadow. Brushwork is thick and visible, the buildings built up in short loaded touches rather than drawn lines.
