A cobbled lane climbs between plastered facades, the subject of Street in Pontoise by Gustave Loiseau, a French post impressionist with a steady eye for ordinary corners of an Oise river town. He builds the view from small crosshatched strokes of oil, grey cobblestone against ochre render, shutters in faded green. Chimneys break the roofline, rooftops tilt under a soft northern sky, and a lone figure gives scale without stirring the quiet.
