Stillleben mit drei Vasen

Three vessels hold the frame: a tall dark bottle at center, a round-bellied jug beside it, a low bowl in front. Cuno Amiet built this still life from stacked shapes, letting each silhouette answer the next. The palette runs deep. Umbers and ochres shade the ceramic bodies, while cool grey-blue slips across one shoulder and a warm rust glaze catches the light on another. Brushwork stays loose and visible, the background pressed in flat so the vessels read almost as relief against it. Suited to a dining room or a kitchen corner where ceramics are actually used, where the painted pots can sit in quiet company with real ones.
