Still Life with Flowers

A full bouquet leans across the picture plane in Still Life with Flowers, a Romanian composition by Stefan Popescu. The blooms crowd forward rather than arranging themselves politely. Rose pink and cream petals carry most of the light, while deep green leaves anchor the stems in shadow. The brushwork stays loose and loaded, pigment dragged thickly over darker underpainting so each flower head catches its own texture. Vase glass catches a single pale highlight near the rim.
