Still Life: Teapot with Flowers and Fruit

A squat silver teapot anchors the table, its polished flank catching light beside heaped fruit and a loose bunch of cut flowers. This still life by John Duncan Fergusson builds the whole composition from confident slabs of color. Petal pinks and apple greens sit in thick, unhesitating strokes, the shadows cast in blue rather than black, a hallmark of the Scottish Colourist approach.
