Fruit loads a dark tabletop while a fistful of bright blooms flares above it in Still Life. Table with fruits and yellow flowers, a generous Russian composition by Pyotr Konchalovsky. Oil sits thick on the surface, every apple, pear and grape built from loaded strokes of cadmium, rose and ochre. The bouquet climbs in buttery yellows against a shadowed interior, leaves slashed in deep green, the front edge dragged in raw umber. Hang it where meals happen: a dining room, a kitchen, an entryway that wants harvest weight and a glow of August against dark wood.
