Still Life. Oak branch

An oak branch rests across the composition, lobed leaves splayed like green hands, acorns still clinging to the stem. Pyotr Konchalovsky paints it with the weight of sculpture. Loaded strokes of olive, viridian and burnt umber stack the foliage into dense planes, Cezanne logic applied to orchard matter. A greyed ochre ground keeps every leaf edge crisp, and the vessel below looks like glazed earthenware, its rim holding one pale highlight. A study or library suits it well, panelled walls, worn leather, a sideboard where decanters gather, rooms that favour quiet woody things over gloss.
