Still Life. Grape

Blue bloomed bunches spill across a dark tabletop, every skin frosted pale, and Pyotr Konchalovsky builds his Still Life. Grape around one heavy, ripening pile of fruit. Paint sits thick, sculpted stroke by stroke, impasto ridges catching light along each curved shoulder. A battered pewter plate tilts toward the viewer, a knife lies unsheathed at the table edge, and vine leaves curl in dry ochre against a near black ground. It belongs above a sideboard in a dining room, or in a kitchen where copper pans hang, somewhere appetite feels at home.
