Star of the Hero

A lone figure stands on a high plateau beneath one burning star. Star of the Hero comes from the Nicholas Roerich Himalayan cycle, where a single light governs an entire landscape. The sky is poured in deep cobalt, thick and even, the way Roerich laid tempera in broad temperate bands. Below, blue-violet ridges step down toward a pale valley, and the star itself hangs white at the top of the composition, small and absolute. Snowfields catch its cold reflection. Hung where a hallway turns or above a reading chair, it holds a quiet vigil over the room.
