Golden domes rise above St. Michaels Cathedral in Kyiv, rendered by Vasyl Hryhorovych Krychevsky with the devotion of an architect who knew every curve of the silhouette. Blue cupolas stacked against a pale sky, crosses catching light at their tips. Cobalt dominates the composition, that unmistakable St. Michael blue running across dome after dome, each drum ringed with arched windows.
