Spring Day

A water meadow under a wide rinsed sky, thawed fields running toward a line of budding birches: Hans am Ende paints Spring Day as the Worpswede moor lets go of winter. Thin washes of violet grey hold the haze above the flat land while pale green shoots break through dark peat soil. A narrow drainage channel mirrors the milky sky, its surface broken by one low wooden footbridge. Brushwork stays loose, edges dissolving into damp northern air.
