White dresses and tree shadow fill a stone terrace in Spots of Sunlight on the Terrace, where Maurice Denis breaks the light into loose yellow patches scattered over pavement and gowns. Foliage presses down in apple green and viridian masses, every trunk pulling violet shadow behind it, and the sun itself turns into a run of pale ovals laid over unmodeled color.
