Spirit-form transformation

A spirit form rises through the picture plane, its outline split into overlapping silhouettes that flicker like a figure caught mid-shudder. Balla named the sheet Spirit-form transformation, and the title tells you exactly what the eye meets. Pale forms multiply across the surface. Around them, fine filaments of ink curve and dart, tracing the paths a body takes as it slips from one state into the next. The hatching is dense at the core and loosens toward the edges, so the whole sheet seems to breathe outward. Graphite lines cross at sharp angles in places, softening into smoky grey wash where the form thins. It suits a study or a reading nook, anywhere a quiet, restless image can hold its own.
