Solskin — Canvas

Snow lies blue across the valley and the sun sits low over the ridgeline, burning a pale gold seam into the drifts. Solskin shows a Norwegian winter landscape at the hour when cold light turns almost warm. Sohlberg builds the scene from long, patient strokes: the snowfield carries violet shadow in its hollows, the tree line behind reads as a dark blue-black fringe, and the sky holds a gradient from lemon near the sun to a cold porcelain white at the top edge. Every value is pushed toward that single source of light. A study or a north-facing sitting room suits this kind of winter quiet, where the gold in the snow does real work against grey walls and winter mornings.
