Small Bouquet of Roses

Bloom-heavy heads nod over the rim of a squat glass vase, stems cut short and packed close. Constantin Artachino keeps his Small Bouquet of Roses intimate, scaled to a windowsill. Petals run from pale blush at the outer rim to deep crimson where they fold inward, each flower built from thick, confident strokes of paint. Grey-green leaves cut the warmth while the background dissolves into a soft haze of cream and olive, leaving the blooms to carry the whole composition.
