Shape and Noise of Motorcyclist

A motorcyclist tears through the picture plane, rider and machine fused into one spinning wedge. Balla repeats the form across the surface so speed becomes the subject itself, wheels and handlebars breaking into dozens of overlapping silhouettes. Slate blue and dusty grey dominate, cut through with sharp ochre spokes and pale diagonal streaks that read as wind. The brushwork runs in short, forceful strokes, each one following the direction of travel, so the whole surface leans forward even where the paint is thinnest. Shadows multiply behind the wheel like noise made visible. Hang it where motion belongs: a hallway, a stairwell landing, or a studio desk wall that needs velocity.
