Cathedral domes break through a thawing Russian sky, gold catching the first hard light of March over Sergiyev Posad. Konstantin Yuon paints the town emerging from winter. Slush darkens the lanes while drifts still bank the church walls, rendered in broad planes of violet shadow and cream. Small figures cross the squares below, and bare trees stitch thin dark lines between cupolas and merchant rooftops. A study or hallway scene that rewards slow looking, bringing the cold brightness of an early Russian spring indoors.
