Blue green water runs toward a rampart of peaks in Seelandschaft mit bergigem Ufer, Cuno Amiet, a Swiss lake landscape where forested heights rise steep from the bank. Short horizontal strokes of cobalt and viridian carry the surface of the lake, thinning to silver where the mountains reflect. Above the waterline the slopes stack in planes of violet gray and pine, their ridgelines edged with snow, under a sky scraped in cold white. A study or stairwell takes on depth from this cool alpine light; the eye travels outward and rests against the far shore.
