Seascape. Mountain Slope

A dark headland slides into restless water in this Konstantin Yuon work, Seascape. Mountain slope. The eye climbs from the swell to the ridge without ever leaving the shore. Banded rock in slate and raw umber drops steeply toward the sea, its facets cut sharp against a band of pale horizon. The water carries short, quick strokes of steel blue and white, the kind a brisk wind leaves behind. Above, the slope thins to dusty green scrub and a sky scrubbed almost bare. Suited to a study or a hallway that faces the morning light, where cool tones hold their own against pale walls.
