Santa Fe Landscape

Sun-dried brick and flat rooftops climb a dusty slope in Santa Fe Landscape, painted by Robert Henri with the blunt, muscular handling of American realism. Ochre adobe, silver chamisa, dark viga ends poking from pale facades; violet shadow settles at the base of each building while distant mesas line the horizon in one long, level band.
