Sanctuaries and Citadels belongs to the world of Nicholas Roerich, where architecture and mountain share one silhouette. Egg tempera reads here in flat, mineral planes: ocher walls against a sky of deep ultramarine, tiny windows punched dark, a pale path winding up toward the gate. Everything is simplified into geometry, yet the fortress feels inhabited, watched over, ancient.
