San Pedro Harbor

Sailboats lie at their moorings while masts and rigging lace across a hushed sky in San Pedro Harbor, a coastal scene by California painter Granville Redmond. Muted blue and pearl gray water holds the hulls in soft reflection, broken here and there by short horizontal strokes of pale light. Distant docks and low rooftops sit in a haze of lavender and ochre, the brushwork quiet, tonal, closer to nocturne than seascape. A study, hallway, or quiet reading corner gains a window to the Southern California coast, where salt air and still water slow the day down.
