San Gabriel Mission

San Gabriel Mission rises in whitewashed stone under a sky stacked with cumulus clouds. Guy Rose sets the old California landmark against a hillside of dry summer grass and scattered dark green trees. The bell tower crowns the facade, its dome catching full sunlight while shadow cools the arched entry below. Rose paints the adobe walls in cream and pale rose, the roofline in weathered tile red, and lets soft brushwork blur the heat shimmer along the ground.
