Sacred Himalayas

Peak after peak climbs through deepening blue in Sacred Himalayas, a mountain vision by Nicholas Roerich. Snowfields burn pale gold at the summits while the valleys below sink into violet shadow and silence. Tempera gives the ridgelines their chalky, bone-like crispness, and Roerich layers his blues in flat, unbroken bands, from cerulean at the crest to near-black indigo where the foothills merge. A thin halo of light encircles the tallest summit, the ring of sanctity he painted onto peaks across his Central Asian journeys. Every slope reads as architecture, built in clean planes rather than blended strokes. It suits a study or reading room, anywhere that invites long, quiet looking.
