Rotterdam Port

Masts and cranes crowd the harbor in Rotterdam Port by Nicolae Vermont. Smoke drifts low across the water while hulls and barges jostle at the quay, all rendered in the muted greys and rust browns of a working northern port. Vermont builds the scene in layered brushwork: rigging drawn in thin dark lines, wet cobbles catching a pale sky, dockworkers reduced to small urgent silhouettes. The palette stays cool, slate and sepia, broken by a faint ochre glow along the waterline. Light does the quiet work here, pooling where clouds thin.
