Rosehip and Jasmine

Wild rose blossoms open five pink petals to the light while white starry sprays thread through the leaves. Rosehip and Jasmine finds Pyotr Konchalovsky painting garden flowers at his most exuberant. Paint sits thick on the surface, each petal loaded with strokes of rose and shell white. Thorny stems crisscross behind a plain earthenware jar, and the jasmine reads as tiny cream pinwheels against deep bottle green foliage. Light from the left warms every edge.
