Rock Study of Hikers

Two tiny hikers pick their way up a craggy slope, drawn small against a mound of boulders that fills the sheet. Albrecht Durer built the outcrop from short, curved pen strokes, each ridge catching light while hollows sink into dense crosshatching. Scrubby tufts sprout from crevices; the path threads between ledges. A study sheet like this belongs propped above a writing desk or hung in a hallway, wherever walking boots get kicked off.
