River Chandra

The Chandra river cuts a cold silver path between Himalayan ridgelines, its water catching the last light as the peaks deepen to violet. Nicholas Roerich painted this high-altitude landscape with the reverence of a pilgrim, and the devotion shows in every stroke. Broad planes of ultramarine and slate build the massif, while pale bands along the water suggest the glacial silt that gives the Chandra its milky sheen.
