Ringwood Bridge

Water rushes beneath the arches of Ringwood Bridge, churned to pale foam where the current narrows. Algernon Talmage paints the crossing from water level, close enough to catch the spray. The stonework carries a wet sheen, its grey-green blocks darkened along the waterline while the upper courses catch cold daylight. Reflections break apart over the turbulence, streaks of white and lead-blue pulling downstream. Bare trees rise behind the parapet, their branches thin against a sky that holds the damp. Suited to a study or hallway where the river mood gives a room some weather.
