Red Reflection

Crimson light lies flat on the water, and Arkady Rylov built Red reflection around that single heated note, a Russian river at dusk keeping the last of the sun. The eye reads thick oil handling: vermilion dragged wet over deep blue green, each stroke left open so the darker ground flickers through. A low shore sits as near silhouette, while the reflected color widens and softens toward the foreground, brushwork loosening into long horizontal pulls. In a study or reading nook, hung where evening lamplight falls, the color settles into a low ember glow, deepening after dark instead of fading with the daylight.
