Rainbow 1

A rainbow arcs low over water, its colors thin as breath on glass. Somov titled it Rainbow 1, and the numeral suggests he meant to chase the effect again. The arc bends in muted rose, pale green, and diluted violet, none of it loud. Below, the water carries a silvery sheen, brushed in soft horizontal strokes that blur every reflection. Skies like this dominate the sheet, gray and pearl, so the rainbow reads less as spectacle and more as a brief mercy of color. Where it belongs: a quiet hallway, a bedroom corner, or above a reading chair where a person sits with tea and watches weather change.
