Radiant Sunset

Sunlight floods the whole field, and the sky does the work of every other element. Radiant Sunset by Wojciech Weiss is a study in heat and color at the edge of day. Look closely and the sun becomes a pale disc pressed into apricot and rose, its glow dissolving rooftops and treetops into silhouette. Brushwork runs in quick, directioned strokes, ochre bleeding into violet where the horizon burns hottest. The lower registers cool toward plum and deep blue, giving the eye a place to rest after all that fire. A living room, stairwell landing, or dining room gains a focal point here, especially against pale plaster or limewashed walls.
