Pskov. Study.

Onion domes rise above Pskov, gold catching the light against a pale northern sky. Konstantin Yuon captured the old fortress city in this study, its towers and whitewashed walls gathered into one quick, sure view. Loose brushwork builds the skyline: ochre rooftops huddle below the cupolas, a river bends along the ramparts, and thin strokes of grey smoke drift across the horizon. The pigment sits thin in places, letting the ground glow through, the way a study laid in on paper or board always does. Warm umber shadows anchor the composition while small touches of red and cobalt mark distant roofs. Suited to a hallway, reading nook, or study wall where Russian landscape painting sets the mood.
