Princess X

A kneeling figure in mirror-bright bronze, arms folded into one continuous swell. Princess X is Constantin Brâncuși at his most mischievous, the female body distilled to a single curve, crowned by a small bowed head. The polish runs so deep that the surface returns the room in soft sliding reflections. A highlight pools along the lap, thins at the waist, gathers at that tilted egg of a head. From one angle the silhouette reads as a woman at rest; from another it turns audacious. Made for a study or a dim entryway, anywhere side light can sweep down that long flank and wake the metal from its sleep.
