Prelude

A lone bell tower rises over a sleeping town, painted by Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis in his symbolist work titled Prelude. The scene opens like the first bars of a score. Muted blues and dusty violets wash across the sky while rooftops cluster below in soft greys and umber. Thin vertical strokes suggest bare trees, and the light sits low, caught between dusk and dawn. Everything in the composition feels suspended, holding its breath before the music begins. It belongs in a quiet study or a reading nook, where early morning light can meet it.
