Port of Concarneau

Fishing boats crowd the harbor at Concarneau, hulls dark against water that carries every shift of Breton light. Pankiewicz paints the port with the disciplined color sense he brought back from France, each mast and mooring rope placed with quiet precision. Grey and green tones dominate, broken by touches of ochre on weathered timber and the pale sky above the quay. The surface holds the texture of brushwork laid in short, deliberate passes, giving the sea a lived-in weight rather than a polished sheen.
