Orange poppies flood the basin in Poppies, Antelope Valley, a Benjamin Brown California scene where blossom and hillside merge into one sheet of burning color. Short loaded strokes of vermilion and scarlet ride over darker underpainting, each blossom a flicked dab with a gold heart.
