Pont du Diable (St. Palais sur Mer Cliffs)

Cliffs of St. Palais sur Mer shoulder the sea in this Pont du Diable view by Theodor Pallady. Rock takes the foreground, water the rest. Ochre and rust mineral tones build the headland in loaded, directional strokes. Below, the Atlantic reads as slate green cut with white surf.
