Plastic Colour

Colour behaves like a solid substance across the sheet. Plastic Colour, from Giacomo Balla, treats pigment as something you could almost grip, weight, and stack, the way a sculptor handles clay rather than the way a painter layers glaze. Blocks of green, orange, and deep blue sit against one another with hard, clean edges, each plane holding its own light. The forms read as folded paper and cut ribbon at once, flat yet loaded with tension, as if the whole composition might spring apart at any second.
