Picking Cherries

A woman reaches into cherry branches, her arm lifted mid-harvest while red fruit clusters through the leaves. Pierre Bonnard turns an afternoon in the garden into a scene of pure color. The canopy fills the upper canvas in greens pressed wet against wet, crimson dots stacked where the cherries hang heaviest. Below, a table holds a blue bowl and spilled fruit, dappled sunlight sliding across the tablecloth in stripes of lemon and white. Every brushstroke stays loose, loaded, and quick.
