Pejzaz Morski

Grey water fills the frame from edge to edge, a seascape by Ferdynand Ruszczyc where the horizon sits low and the sky does most of the talking. The title, Pejzaz morski, names it plainly: a sea landscape. Heavy pigment builds the swell. Slate blue drags over grey-green in broad, loaded strokes, foam scraped back to the bare ground in places, the brushwork left rough and visible. Light breaks through in one pale band above the waterline, thin as a blade. Nothing decorative softens it. Ruszczyc painted the Baltic the way it behaves, cold, moving, indifferent. A north-facing room suits it best, a study or stairwell where the light stays cool and the sea reads true.
