Peaches on the Branches

Peaches on the Branches opens on fruit left hanging on the tree, skins flushed rose and gold through a screen of leaves, rendered in the loaded oil brushwork Pyotr Konchalovsky favored. Fuzz catches the light along every curve; leaves are laid on in broad, flat strokes of olive and viridian, with sky flickering blue between them. Shadows run violet under the fruit, and highlights sit thick enough to cast real texture across the surface. A kitchen or breakfast nook suits it best, anywhere morning light and food share a table; it also holds its own above a farmhouse dining sideboard.
