Peaches and Grapes

Peaches glow against a deep tablecloth in Peaches and Grapes, a still life by Pierre Bonnard where ripe fruit carries all the light in the room. The skin of each peach burns apricot and rose where window light catches it, while grapes cluster in violet shadow beneath.
