Sun falls across a park path in the Palatinate, the kind of late afternoon light Max Slevogt chased all his working life. Park Landscape in the Palatinate opens onto that scene directly, no framing preamble, just the walk itself. Trees rise along the route with loose, loaded brushwork, trunks in warm sienna and shadowed violet where the canopy thickens. Grass takes on a dry, summery yellow green, and open sky flickers between branches in pale blues and creams. The ground is worked quickly, strokes laid side by side so the path seems to tremble with heat. Far off, the foliage thins toward a bright clearing, keeping the eye moving. A sunlit study corner or a stair landing with good daylight would suit its airy, outdoor temperament.
