Akershus fortress rises above Oslo harbor, painted by Harald Sohlberg in his Oslo vista de Akershus. The stone ramparts hold the foreground while the city spreads below toward cold water. Sohlberg builds the scene from slate blues, frost whites, and pale winter light, the snow bound tones and measured brushwork that place him among Norwegian Neo Romantic painters.
