Open Window

An open window fills a quiet room with the light of a Russian morning, painted by Konstantin Yuon at his most intimate. The casement swings wide and the whole outdoors leans in. Cool greens and pale blues wash across the interior while warm ochre settles on the sill, the frame and the sunlit walls beyond. Loose, confident brushwork gives the curtains weight and the garden air a visible shimmer. Every edge is softened by daylight moving through the room.
