Olt Valley

The Olt River cuts through a gorge of forested slopes, painted by Stefan Popescu with loose, confident strokes. His view of the Romanian valley opens in deep greens and cool blues. Thick olive brushwork covers the near banks, where beech trunks rise in pale verticals against dark undergrowth. The water carries slate blue and silver highlights, breaking into shallows at a gravel bend. Beyond, ridgelines soften into hazy violet, the sky pressed in with broad, dry strokes of grey. A quiet study corner or reading nook suits this mountain landscape, its cool palette settling into rooms lined with books.
